UBA commenced operations in Africa since 1949 as the British and French Bank Limited (BFB). It took over the assets and liabilities of BFB and was incorporated as a limited liability company in 1961. In 2005, we merged with Standard Trust Bank (STB), one of the largest developments of its kind in the history of sub-Saharan Africa.
